Why should you hire Cowan Custom Finishing???
I, Amber have about TWENTY YEARS of experience, working on the coast 90% of that time, building and fixing, DECKS, FENCES, doors and windows, and lots of siding too. I worked for numerous local contractors and builders. it took me WAY TOO LONG to get the confidence, and initiative it takes to start a business. anyone I have worked for or with, WILL tell you I work hard. There was even at least one instance where I remember a grown man quitting, because I could (and was) packing more lumber than him. but back on the topic at hand.
I believe we preplan better than anyone else. From the first time we look at the job, until the first day of actual work, at the job, we really try and plan EVERYTHING.... we get delivery of products on anything we possibly can, we have a portable restroom delivered, and we communicate during the entire process.
we are qualified. I love sharing all my insurance policy's including WORKERS COMP!! I post my insurance publicly on facebook, something I haven't seen ANYONE else do. But, it literally costs SO MUCH MONEY to be legitimate, I want you TO KNOW we are qualified, and have all the insurance required. you would be REALLY SURPRISED how many people DO NOT.
We will never take on a job, that we don't have complete confidence in making the client happy, and having a great end product. that's why we DO pass on some jobs. It's just not worth the risk, unless I really wholeheartedly believe we can ALL BE HAPPY AT THE END!!! we will try hard to find someone who CAN help, whenever possible. people who specialize, ARE REALLY GOOD at what they do!!
once people meet us, and once they SEE us working together, they are always at the very least impressed with our productivity!! but you know, when you work side by side with someone for any amount of time, that SHOULD happen.
what makes US different is we don't have a bunch of people working, or a bunch of turn over for employees. I amber cowan, own the company, YES, but my full time right hand help, is absolutely crucial to my (OUR) sucess. So as the law requires, we have an hourly wage, but we also have profit sharing, which helps keep everyone's GOALS THE SAME!!! So far, it's working beautifully.
We give back to the community whenever possible. we sponsor local ball teams, donations to the local food bank, donations to Warrenton High School, donations to the cub scouts, and last year we donated all the labor to rebuild the bus stop at NW 4th street in warrenton. I would love to do more for the community, so I'm always on the lookout!!
you are not only getting your project done, but you are supporting LIVING WAGE JOBS, and a DREAM.... My ultimate goal is to buy a buildable lot JUST outside the city limits and build some rentals, because there is NO housing available around here. Also , so I have income later in life when I am unable to pack lumber!
I think transparency is important. I try to explain every step of the project to my clients. Not everyone wants to know all the steps, and THATS OKAY TOO!! I just really want you to know what exactly YOU ARE PAYING FOR, especially with the lumber costs lately. I don't take offense when asked a question, or get offended easily, in general. I might crack jokes when completely innapropriate, though! I am just ME, all the time, and don't know how to turn that off. I can promise you that we will do our very best to make your project the best possible. we just don't know how to do it any other way. we would never do something at YOUR house that we wouldn't do at our own (separate!) homes!!
You will get a list of 5 references, ALL previous clients, after we first have contact. All of the folks on this list have offered to be a "cheerleader" of sorts, to help us be successful. There's even a couple i need to add from earlier this year!! I don't know of ANYONE ELSE who does this! I want you to be SURE about your decision though. A lot of times, it's a LOT of money to get home improvements done. I know with large financial decisions, I make, I research as much as I can. so please, RESEARCH US and FEEL GOOD about hiring us!!!
